DVS Engineering & Inspection offers Corrosion Engineering services, cathodic protection design, piping inspection assessments, cathodic protection potential surveys, construction inspection & coating inspection. We specialize in the corrosion protection of new and existing buried piping and tanks systems.
DVS Engineering & Inspection is owned and operated by Darcy VanSligtenhorst, P.Eng. with 20 years experience. He is a professional Engineer and his certifications include NACE Cathodic Protection Technologist (CP3), and NACE Coating Inspection, Level 2 (CIP2).
Corrosion Engineering Our corrosion Engineering services include the preparation of cathodic protection design drawings, technical specifications, coating specifications, materials list, and budget estimates. Cathodic protection is provided by sacrificial anodes or impressed current anode beds with rectifiers.
Indirect Inspection The level of corrosion protection is assessed by performing over-the-line cathodic protection potential survey using portable reference electrodes, wire reel, and voltmeter. Inspection are also completed on test stations, junction boxes, and rectifiers. Any deficiencies would be identified and recommendations are provided.
Direct Inspection A direct inspection assessment of excavated piping is completed by the inspection of existing coating, removal of coating, ultrasonic thickness testing of steel pipe wall, corrosion pit depth measurements, and replacement of coating. The remaining pipe wall thickness is then calculated and remaining life expectancy can be estimated.
Construction Inspection Our construction services include inspection of the installation of anodes, cables, connections/splices, test stations, junction boxes, rectifiers, etc. The coating inspection includes the abrasive blasted steel surfaces, and applied coatings. Measurements include cleanliness of blasted steel surfaces, steel surface profile, surface temperature, dew point, temperature, humidity, wet film and dry film coating thickness measurements, and coating holiday testing (detection of pinholes & defects).
